The Managing Director of AU’s new Antiracist Research and Policy Center is responsible for collaborating with the Director to devise, implement and manage the center’s strategic plan and fundraising strategy. The center’s mission is to bring together researchers, policymakers, writers, and advocates into teams that study racial inequality and discrimination, recommend policy correctives, and engage in effective campaigns of change. The Managing Director will also oversee the center’s personnel, operations, budget, initial research projects, and external communications.
Bachelor’s degree in related field required. Master’s degree desired.
Five years of relevant work experience in research and/or policy organizations or institutions oriented towards racial or social justice
Passion for antiracist work
Fundraising experience in an academic or non-profit setting
Managerial competence and gifted writer
Works productively under minimal supervision
Excellent intellectual creativity and interpersonal skills
Commitment to institution-building
Track record managing budgets
Social media proficiency
